Happy birthday to Rome!

thecatholictraveler.substack.com

Today is Rome’s 2,775th birthday!

The girls and I made this video years ago. It’s silly, we are all a bit older now, technology has improved, and I play both a pregnant lady and a she-wolf. But we like it just the way it is.

It’s filmed on April 21st in Circus Maximus between Aventine Hill and Palatine Hill, so pretty much exactly where these events took place.

Speaking of Rome… what a difference a few weeks makes! These two photos were taken at the Scala Santa just two weeks apart. Everywhere in Rome is like this now. Hotels and guides are even busier than they were in 2019! People are so ready to travel now that most all restrictions are gone. It’s beautiful to see.

Space available on some upcoming pilgrimages

The Holy Land with Father Andrew Dalton

This trip is less than two weeks away, but I had several sign-ups in the last 24 hours, so if you are someone who can get away on short notice, this trip is going to be amazing. The Holy Land is still not crowded, like Rome, but it will be soon!

Details here.

Austria and Oberammergau with Father Michael Baggott

I have 3 new openings for this pilgrimage. Vienna, Salzburg, and Oberammergau. This pilgrimage was sold out years ago, but a few spaces have opened up.

Details here.

Oberammergau and the Shrines of Eastern Europe with Father Peter Idler

I have 1 (maybe 2) new openings. A completely new itinerary for me, Oberammergau with Austria, Prague, and Poland. And the pilgrimage is filled with my Patrons. I cannot wait to experience these places with you.

Details here.

And three pilgrimages I’ve just announced…

Lourdes, Fatima, and Oberammergau

I offer Lourdes to Fatima every few years. It’s a beautiful pilgrimage. This year, we are included Oberammergau, since it only happens once every ten years.

Details here.

October in Italy with Father Christopher Smith

My favorite time of year to visit Italy. Rome, Florence, Assisi, Orvieto, and Siena. Lots of churches, a few wineries, an olive pressing, and excellent food.

Details here.

Holy Week in Rome

Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday with the Pope. Holy Thursday Altars of Repose. Stations of the Cross at the Colosseum. And a few days to relax in Umbria.

Details here.

🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Be sure to celebrate Rome’s birthday today with some spritzes and pasta!

Ciao for now!
