Stories with Pope Saint John Paul II
Happy Feast of Saint John Paul II!
If you want to read a stressful account of when my wife and I met him, click here.
Or how about the time my group was almost crushed at his beatification.
Or how about the time my group was almost crushed at his canonization.
This month is the anniversary of the first time I saw Pope John Paul II on my very first visit to Europe back in 1999. That trip had such a huge impact on me that as soon as I got home, I quit my cool and posh job at a major record label, and bought a one way ticket back to Rome. It's not too surprising that I've spent the last sixteen years of my life working to give people that same experience through pilgrimage.
I have another group arriving next week. This will be my 144th group pilgrimage since I started The Catholic Traveler in 2005, and my fourth since travel reopened in Italy back in May.
Because it's the number one question I get these days... I've traveled with vaccinated and unvaccinated all through Rome, Orvieto, Assisi, Florence, and Venice. Not one time has there been an issue with the Green Pass, testing has always been quick and easy, and no one has needed to quarantine. I've written about what is required to visit Italy and what exactly is a "Green Pass."
